This has been an incredibly busy year! Three of the puppies from Keke’s litter are living in show homes and have started show and performance careers. One of those puppies has remained here with us. Cassie Acostar’s London Lejay Cassis is just like her mother; calm and affectionate. Her sister Sage Acostar’s Sweetgrass Crossing lives with our groomer Natasha Humeston and keeps her shih tzu house mates on their toes. The big boy Oliver Oreobay Acostar Worth The Trip lives in Ohio and is absolutely gorgious and a joy to live with. Their mom Keke bounced back beautifully from caring for her litter and started 2011 “in training” for obecience, agility, and water work.
On February 21st 2011, our girl Ruby Acostar’s Porto Rubi whelped a lovely litter of 8 with 5 males and 3 females. She was once again a fantastic mother and one of the puppies from this litter is about to begin showing in the conformation ring in 2012. Finnegan Acostar’s Big Talker lives in Edmonton and his family reports that he is a wonderful companion and loved by everyone he meets.
Just one month later on March 23rd Ruby’s sister Java Acostar’s Java Nadar had a litter of 10 beautiful puppies. She had an even split of 5 males and 5 females but only two of the pups were wavy and the rest were curly. None of these puppies were placed in show homes but look for future updates on them doing performance events like agility.
Acostar had a fantastic summer!
Keke Oreobay Keke Beach Acostar and I started her quest for a CKC Companion Dog (CD) title in March and got her first two qualifying legs towards the CD title at the CKOC shows but the required third leg proved to be tough to get. We finally achieved the last leg in July at the Kars shows placing second in the class. After spending July and August concentrating on water work Keke earned her Working Water Dog title at the APWDC water trials the first week-end of September. We are so proud of Keke and these titles qualified her for the PWDCA bronze Register Of Merit (ROM) which was presented at the Nationa Specialty in Georgia. The WWD title allows Keke to qualify for the Silver ROM but we missed the deadline by a few days so we’ll have to wait for next year’s specialty. Watch for news on Keke’s next litter soon.
Also this summer at the Kars shows Cassie Acostar’s London Lejay Cassis won Best Puppy in Group on the Friday. Not to be outdone, our newest addition Tia Elkrun Acostar Dream Come True won Best Puppy in Group on the Saturday. Both girls were expertly handled by Linda Thompson. They are well on their way to their CKC Championships and we are hoping for great things from them in both the show ring and the whepling box.
