2009 was off to a good start for Phoenix. In January, he attended his first ever American show in Portland, Oregon, with over 30 pwds entered in competition. Looking as confident as ever, Phoenix showed very consistently all four shows with two 3rd placements and one 2nd placement in Open class males. Then, he was on to the Ladies Kennel Club shows in British Columbia, where he showed wonderfully to take a Working Group 3rd!! With some experience at the ‘big shows’ now, we decided to enter him at the Arizona Supported Entry shows in Scottsdale. The flight and warmer weather didn’t phase him as he strutted his way to Winners Dog on the first day of shows and Best of Winners the next day for a 5 point major (there were over 40 pwds entered)!! Way to go Phoenix! Many thanks to our friend and mentor, Kim, for making these wins possible.
A very Happy Birthday to our girl Keke who turns 2 today! She was entered in several week-ends of shows in March and April and she won Best of Breed six shows in a row! Although she made the cut in the group a few times she is still chasing that elusive group placement. Even so, we are very proud of our girl! Keke’s hip and elbow x-rays will be submitted to OFA in May and and her results will be posted just as soon as we get them. If she receives a passing grade we are planning to breed Keke in July.
